This exercise was conducted under the principles of "realistic simulation and practical effectiveness," replicating a scenario where a hazardous chemical leak triggers a fire accident. Lin Yan, EHS Vice President, along with employees from all departments across various plants, actively participated. All participants worked together seamlessly, successfully completing the exercise mission.

To effectively enhance the company's emergency response capabilities for handling sudden safety incidents and strengthen safety awareness across the organization, Keyuan Pharmaceutical (stock code: 301281.SZ) recently conducted a realistic, full-scale fire emergency drill at its new tank area. Guided by the principle of "staying close to real-world scenarios while focusing on practical effectiveness," the drill simulated a hazardous chemical leak that triggered a fire accident. Lin Yan, Vice President of EHS, along with employees from all factories and departments, actively participated. Through seamless collaboration and coordination among all participants, the drill was successfully completed.

Simulate emergency scenarios and activate the emergency response.

"A gas detector in the new tank area sounded an alarm, revealing a pipeline leak that triggered a fire!" Following the urgent report from the on-duty personnel in the fire control room, an emergency rescue operation was swiftly launched to address the hazardous chemical leak and resulting fire. The drill simulated a scenario where a damaged connection point on a storage tank pipeline in the new tank area caused a dangerous chemical leak, with volatile gases leading to worker poisoning. To make matters even more challenging, static electricity ignited the flames, and the day’s prevailing southwest wind further complicated efforts to contain the situation.

After receiving the emergency call, the company's emergency rescue command center immediately activated the contingency plan. Commander-in-chief Lin Yan swiftly issued deployment orders, instructing all emergency teams to gear up and take their positions. At the same time, he organized an urgent evacuation of all personnel and promptly reported the situation to relevant authorities. Within moments, multiple teams—including the fire and rescue unit, the disaster response team, and the medical aid squad—sprang into action, heading to their designated posts according to the pre-established plan. The drill unfolded in a tense yet orderly manner.

Multiple teams work in coordination to efficiently handle emergencies.

At the exercise site, employees from the Warehouse Department immediately implemented emergency measures: they closed the storage tank and pipeline valves to isolate the leak source. Meanwhile, the Process Handling Team activated the emergency shut-off button, halting the operation of all material-transfer pumps in the tank area. However, during the leak containment process, "simulated personnel" collapsed after suffering poisoning due to inadequate protective measures. To make matters worse, the leaked substance ignited because of improper handling procedures, further escalating the hazardous situation.

The fire rescue team swiftly arrived at the scene, with two teams simultaneously launching operations from the west and south sides of the tank area. The first team drove a foam firefighting truck to the designated location and used a fire monitor to extinguish the blaze at the exact ignition point. Meanwhile, the second team connected to fire hydrants, laid out the main water line, and injected foam to blanket the fire, launching an all-out assault on the flames. At the same time, the emergency rescue team, equipped with positive-pressure respirators and chemical-resistant suits, bravely entered the hazardous zone to evacuate the poisoned individuals to safety. The medical rescue team immediately followed up, providing urgent treatment to the injured before transporting them to the hospital.

The Alert and Evacuation Team set up barricades at key locations such as the intersection of the Environmental Protection Department road and Factory No. 1 entrance, as well as along the main thoroughfare, guiding personnel to evacuate orderly along designated routes to the company’s West Gate emergency assembly point. They also conducted a comprehensive search of the site to ensure no one was left behind. Meanwhile, the Environmental Monitoring Team continuously tracked air quality within the厂区, providing critical environmental data to support the rescue operations.

After nearly an hour of collaborative efforts by all teams, the fire at the scene was successfully extinguished, the leaked materials were properly handled, and the "injured personnel" received timely medical treatment. Environmental monitoring confirmed that air quality remained normal, marking a successful conclusion to the drill.

Practice enhances prevention, solidifying the foundation of safety.

“This exercise tested the scientific soundness and practical applicability of the company’s emergency rescue plan, while also enhancing the collaborative response capabilities across all departments.” After the drill concluded, Chief Commander Lin Yan emphasized in his summary that safe production is the lifeline of corporate development. He urged all employees to take this exercise as an opportunity to further strengthen their safety awareness, master emergency response skills proficiently, and truly achieve “prevention before problems arise.”

Keyuan Pharmaceutical places great importance on safe production. This exercise, from plan development to on-site implementation, was meticulously tailored to the company’s actual conditions, covering every critical step—including alarm activation, evacuation, rescue operations, fire suppression, and environmental monitoring. During the drill, dozens of participants followed the pre-established procedures with precision, demonstrating swift action, clear division of responsibilities, and seamless teamwork. Their performance highlighted the company’s robust safety management foundation and its strong capability in handling emergencies effectively.

This comprehensive emergency drill strengthened employees' ability to respond effectively and their capacity for self-rescue and mutual assistance in the event of unexpected incidents, further enhancing the company's emergency management system. It also provides a solid foundation for reinforcing the safety production framework and driving the company’s high-quality development. Moving forward, the company will continue to promote regular safety drills as a routine practice, demonstrating concrete actions to safeguard both employee well-being and operational safety.
